The Hawkei (pronounced "hawkeye") is a protected mobility vehicle designed as a follow-on to the successful Bushmaster armored vehicle (see separate record). It is named, as was its predecessor, after a venomous Australian snake, the death adder Acanthopis hawkei.
The vehicle was developed for Australia's Land 121 Phase 4 program to replace the army's fleet of 1,300 Land Rovers. It may also be exported, potentially to the U.K., the Netherlands and the U.S Marine Corps.
