Type 86 infantry fighting vehicle

The Chinese Type 86 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) is virtually a direct copy of the Soviet/Russian BMP-1 (see separate database entry). The Type 86 reportedly has a lower maximum road speed and weight. Although designated the Type 86 by China, it is called the WZ 501 in the People's Liberation Army (PLA).
