This is an upgraded variant of the Saur-1 (see "Variants," below). Both vehicles were developed privately by Romarm to meet Romanian army requirements. It is designed to meet NATO standards.
The vehicle has an all-welded steel hull, which protects against small-arms fire and shell splinters. The highest level of protection is provided over the frontal arc. The nose section was redesigned.
The driving axles are located within the hull for protection.
