The Commando Mk III armored personnel carrier (APC) was developed in 1977-1978 for the Portuguese National Guard. The vehicle was basically a short-wheel-base version of the BRAVIA Gazela (4 x 4) 1-ton truck chassis fitted with an armored body. The Mk III was similar in appearance to the British Shorland armored patrol car, but the Commando had a longer wheelbase, was heavier and can be used as an APC.
