The Italian MM/SPQ-702 surface search radar shares most of its components with the MM/SPQ-701 combined navigation and search radar (see separate database entry). The SPQ-702 is fitted in larger surface warships to detect surface ships and low-flying aircraft for targeting and hand them off to anti- aircraft or anti-ship missile fire-control systems.
