The French 155-mm TR towed gun is derived from the gun used in the AUF1 self-propelled gun (see separate record for more information).
The weapon is typical of most recent Western 155-mm guns in power and range. The carriage has a 39-hp auxiliary power unit (APU) for fast emplacement and displacement. The air-cooled gasoline APU drives three hydraulic pumps to provide power for swinging the gun out of traveling position and raising the wheels to set the gun on its firing platform....
