The 155-mm G5 howitzer is towed on a four-wheel carriage and uses an auxiliary power unit (APU) to assist in bringing the weapon into firing position. The G5 features a gun monitor system with an equivalent full charge (EFC) counter and the EMVA Mark 10B muzzle velocity analyzer.
The 79-hp air cooled diesel engine APU is located in front of the carriage and supplies the power for raising and lowering the trail wheels and firing platform, as well as opening and closing the trail...
