122-mm M-30 (M1938)

Country of Origin: Russia

This is an obsolete field howitzer that was once the Warsaw Pact's standard division artillery piece. It was replaced by the D-30 (see separate database entry).

The howitzer fires high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) and HE-fragmentation (HE-FRAG) projectiles.

The original Soviet guns had spoked wheels with sponge rubber-filled tires; Bulgarian guns have a different wheel (as did the East German versions). The East German guns had pneumatic tires that permitted higher towing speeds.
