The 105-mm Model 46 howitzer was a short-barreled weapon with a relatively long recoil mechanism extending forward to the beginning of the barrel's muzzle brake. The Model 46 was towed on a two-wheel carriage and had a small shield.
The Model 46 fired a high-explosive (HE) projectile.
No longer in service.
Initial operational capability (IOC) in 1943. Production ceased in 1953. The Model 46 underwent an upgrade program, the first example of which was delivered in 1995.
