The 155-mm Advanced Gun System (AGS) was developed by BAE Systems (formerly United Defense) for the U.S. Navy's ZUMWALT-class destroyer program. It was originally designed for attacking naval targets, as well as land targets with long-range land attack projectiles (LRLAPs), during littoral support operations. Two AGS platforms are placed in tandem on the bow of the ZUMWALT-class ships, and are designed to fire side-by-side while the ship is broadside to its target.
