The 57-mm/70-cal ZIF-31B anti-aircraft guns are installed in single, twin and quad mounts on a variety of older Russian destroyers and smaller ships.
The barrel is of monobloc construction. Automatic mechanisms operate via recoil forces. Both barrels were mounted in a common cradle. Ammunition was supplied in three-round clips.

Initial operational capability was achieved in 1957. As many as 265 ZIF-31 mounts were in Soviet naval service by 1981.
