This dual-purpose gun is the main armament of several classes of large patrol and missile craft. This 70-caliber weapon was derived from the earlier 60-caliber gun that is no longer in service.
The barrel is liquid-cooled and has a vertical sliding block breech. Dual fixed-hoist feeds contain a total of 40 ready rounds; this allows two types of ammunition to be ready to fire at any time. Another 128 rounds are stowed within the plastic gun house to be loaded into the feed systems....
