The SMASH is a 30-mm stabilized remotely controlled weapon system. The system is integrated on a stabilized pedestal with an independent electro-optical sight and surveillance. The system has excellent tracking and firing ability a very high hit accuracy, according to the manufacturer.
The 30-mm Mk 44 Bushmaster II cannon a dual ammunition feeds. The operator can select which feed to use.
The remote-control unit permits the gunner to operate the weapon from under cover.
