The M1943 160-mm mortar, which was called the MT-13 when it was in Soviet service, is a breech-loading, trigger-fired weapon that has a large, circular baseplate with carrying handles.

Initial operational capability (IOC) was reached in 1943.
The weapon is no longer in service with Russian ground forces; it was replaced in 1953 by the M-160.
