This is the oldest mortar developed in the former Yugoslavia still in general service. The UB M52 has several variants, the most common of which is the UB M52A4 fitted with pneumatic tires.
The 120-mm UB M52 mortar is unique since it is fired while attached to its two-wheel carriage and has a recoil cylinder on either side of the tube.
In the traveling position, the weapon is towed by the muzzle and tubular brackets on the base plate, which are attached to the wheel assembly.
