The M120 is the U.S. Army's 120-mm mortar system and is based on the Israeli Soltam K6 weapon. It is a conventional smoothbore, muzzle-loaded mortar. It is employed in towed (M120) and vehicle-mounted (M121) variants, as well as in the Stryker mortar-carrier vehicle.
The M120 mortar system consists of the M298 cannon, M190 bipod, M9 baseplate and the M67 sight unit. When carried on an M1100 trailer, the M120 is generally towed by a HMMWV.
