The DHC-3 Otter is a multi-role, short takeoff and landing (STOL) utility aircraft in widespread civil and military use. It is essentially a scaled-up version of the DHC-2 Beaver light utility transport and retains the latter's excellent short-field performance. In military service, it is used for liaison, search and rescue (SAR), survey, and medical evacuation roles.
