The Tern is a short-range unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) optimized for operations in rough field conditions.
A high-set tricycle undercarriage and the over-the-wing engine allows the Tern to use very rough landing fields and to carry underslung payloads of up to 22 lb (10 kg).
The configuration also allows the Tern to conduct precision delivery of its payload, possibly indicating it could be used as an ad hoc armed UAV. An additional fuel tank can be added to increase endurance.
