The Ranger uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) was originally designed for day and night battlefield reconnaissance and surveillance to meet a specific Swiss army requirement.

The Ranger has been optimized for use in the difficult topographic and weather conditions that can be encountered in Switzerland. For example, the airframe and engine are larger to allow greater payloads at higher altitudes. Also, more attention has been devoted to weatherproofing the vehicle.
