The Indian Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) developed the Nishant as a remotely piloted vehicle (RPV) capable of performing discrete aerial reconnaissance functions and target acquisition for other weapons systems. The project was canceled after a series of crashes.
The Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), a subsidiary department of DRDO, supported the program.
