The OH-1 is Japan's first indigenously developed helicopter. It is designed for reconnaissance missions and was intended to replace Japan's OH-6D helicopters.

The OH-1 has stub-wings and a tandem seating arrangement. It is fitted with a "fenestron" type ducted tail rotor.
