The Ukraine-built An-178 is a cargo variant of Antonov's An-158 regional jet that is under development. The aircraft is intended to replace aging An-12 Cub transports.
To minimize costs, it is to use many An-158 components, such as the wing, tail fins and cockpit, including 57 digital systems. Compared to the An-158, the An-178 will have a strengthened airframe, large cargo compartment with an added ramp door and more powerful engines.
