The Mi-8 Hip is the primary transport helicopter of the Russian armed forces. It is also flown in gunship and electronic warfare versions, is the most widely exported of all Russian helicopters and has in effect become the Russian C-47 of military helicopters (the legendary U.S.-built transport plane; see separate database entry).
