The Ka-25 Hormone was the Soviet navy's principal shipboard, anti-submarine warfare (ASW), search-and-rescue (SAR) and target acquisition helicopter until the introduction of the Ka-27 Helix in the early 1980s. In the target acquisition role, the Hormone-B provided over-the-horizon targeting for shipboard long-range, anti-ship missiles.
