The CH-53K King Stallion is the Navy's replacement for the aging CH-53E Super Stallion. It will maintain almost the same footprint as its predecessor, but with nearly three times the payload under hot and high conditions. It is being designed to carry a cargo load of 27,000 lb (12,200 kg) 110 nautical miles, operating at an altitude of 3,000 ft (900 m) and an ambient temperature of 92 degrees Fahrenheit.
