This was the original production single-seat version. First flight of production aircraft occurred on Aug. 7, 1978. It was fitted with the Northrop Grumman APG-66 radar; Sidewinder air-to-air missile; Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-200 engine; and a triplex flight control system.
