The Y-30 is a Chinese military airlifter in development that is in the same class as the U.S. C-130 Hercules. The Chinese air force has a requirement for such an aircraft. The Y-30 could become China's primary airlifter.
The notional design calls for a gross weight of 80 metric tons, with a payload of 30 metric tons, compared to 19.6 metric tons for the C-130. This would require a significant improvement in efficiency over the U.S. aircraft, say analysts.
