The Trident was a British civil airliner that was adapted for use by China as a military transport. Although it bore a strong resemblance to the more widely distributed Boeing 727, the Trident actually predated the 727.

The Trident had a standard configuration for a mid-sized transport; it featured three engines -- two in nacelles at the rear of the fuselage and one at the root of the tailfin -- a T-tail with a swept tailplane, a swept wing set and retractable tricycle landing...
