The Il-96 is a wide-bodied, long-range passenger aircraft. There is also a freighter configuration. It remains in commercial service in Cuba and government service in Russia.
The design builds on the Il-86, with new turbofan engines, increased takeoff weight, wingspan and fuel capacity among other improvements.
The wings are supercritical and equipped with winglets.
