Tu-22M Backfire long-range bomber

The Tu-22M Backfire is a long-range, high-performance bomber, and the first large bomber with variable-geometry wings to enter service. The Backfire is usually considered a derivative of the Tu-22 Blinder (see separate database entry). The production variant is so different, however, that there was little commonality between the two aircraft.
