OVERVIEW
The Bolivian air force is taking an increased role in operations against drug-trafficking. The United States had previously been involved in the training of these counterinsurgency forces, as well as providing armed aircraft for such missions. However, in April 2011, President Morales said he would accept US$250,000 from the U.S. to monitor coca eradication but would not allow agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to return to Bolivia.
