OVERVIEW
The air force was re-established in 1994 and has been in the process of rebuilding since. The service's main objective is air surveillance through the joint Latvian-Lithuanian-Estonian BALTNET system and to cooperate with any NATO missions.
The service headquarters is led by a Chief of Staff, who serves as commander in the absence of the commander of the air force.
