OVERVIEW

The ground forces make up the bulk of the Austrian military. The combat units are organized into four brigades and one special operations unit. There is one brigade each of armored infantry, mechanized infantry, light infantry and mountain infantry.  Each of Austria's nine states also serves as a regional military command in wartime.
