OVERVIEW
The Israeli navy operates surface and subsurface naval vessels in defense of Israel's Mediterranean and Red Sea maritime boundaries.
Naval aircraft, including patrol, search-and-rescue surveillance planes, as well as helicopter gunships, are maintained and flown by air force personnel.
The Israeli navy is organized into the following units:
