OVERVIEW
The Iraqi air force was disbanded and reorganized following the 2003 invasion and toppling of Saddam Hussein. The new Iraqi government, with the help of its coalition partners, reconstituted the army air arm through some aircraft acquisitions and transfers from the U.S. and some of its neighboring countries.
