OVERVIEW
Kenya has a navy oriented towards coastal defense duties. Since most major cities are located in the interior, the navy has a relatively small role in Kenya's defensive strategy. A small patrol fleet is maintained on the Indian Ocean coastline; paramilitary naval forces are assigned to interior lake and river networks.
